WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Kansas Department of Transportation will close northbound I-135 on Saturday as part of phase two of its I-135 Gold North Junction project.
The closure will begin at 6 a.m. Saturday and continue until late Sunday afternoon, said JB Wilson with the Kansas Department of Transportation.
The project has faced delays due to weather conditions.
“It was an unseasonably rainy summer and there was a lot of delays, we do thank the public for their patience,” Wilson said.
The I-135 work is one of many projects KDOT has planned over the next few years. Construction on I-135 and K-96 has created heavy traffic backups, particularly affecting commuters who travel between east and west Wichita.
