MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A special sendoff was held on Friday as a Madison Police K9 officer injured during a chase was released from the hospital, Capital K9s Facebook announced Friday on Facebook.
This comes after he was seriously injured in a September crash involving a tow truck.
According to the Facebook post, nearly 100 first responders gathered to send Madison Police K9 Officer Ryan Kimberley home after he was treated at the hospital for more than a month.
Officers and firefighters from Madison, Fitchburg, Monona, McFarland and the Dane County Sheriff’s Office were among those in the crowd.
On October 13, Officer Kimberley and his K9 Freddie reunited nearly one month after the crash.
Another K9 handler has been caring for Freddie while Kimberley continues to recover.
