FORT WORTH, Texas — The Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia and Learning Disorders at Scottish Rite for Children opened some 60 years ago. It offers several programs designed to support children who often don’t have access to services in their school environment.

Cheryl Frierson is the medical director for the Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia and Learning Disorders .

“They're having difficulty learning the letters, learning the sounds, learning to put it all together to get meaning out of written words," she said of some students with dyslexia.

WFAA got to observe its Dyslexia Laboratory School, where small groups commit to two years or more of learning and research, and the impacts are remarkable.
