MADISON (WKOW) – Communities in Jamaica are reeling after Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 storm, made landfall on Tuesday. A man originally from near Montego Bay is calling on people in Madison to support his homeland.
"I'm here, but my mind is there, you know what I'm saying, because I can feel that pain," said Winston Williams.
Williams, currently in Madison, is deeply affected by the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa.
"The doctor told me that, you know, my blood pressure is high. I said -- I know why," said Williams.
Williams moved to Madison 13 years ago after meeting his ex-wife who vacationed on the island. He has since remarried. Despite embracing life in Madison, he keeps in touch with family and friends back home, who have shared devastating stories.
