82-year-old Olathe man becomes oldest person to climb to Mt. Everest base camp

OLATHE, Kan. — An Olathe man said he's now the oldest person to trek to the base camp of Mt. Everest.

The 82-year-old said adventure doesn't have an expiration date.

Mt. Everest is the world's tallest mountain. Dave McClung is reportedly the oldest person to climb to the south base camp of Mt. Everest.

"I was thinking, I don't see any 82-year-olds here," McClung said.

At 82 years old, McClung said he became the oldest person to trek to the South Base Camp of Mt. Everest in Nepal.

"Oh, it's just another adventure," he told FOX4 . "I tend to be an adventurer and do two or three adventures a year. My son came up with the idea to do this one and it sounded fun to do it together."
