TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Two University of Arizona students were killed and a third was injured in a hit-and-run crash near the campus in Tucson late Thursday, Oct. 30.
The University of Arizona said Sophia Troetel and Josiah Santos died while a third student was seriously injured.
The Tucson Police Department said a 19-year-old driver involved in the crash was detained and more information would be released later.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and all grieving those who lost their lives and our support to the injured student and their loved ones,” the school said in a release. “The university is providing direct support and resources to students, faculty, and staff affected by this tragic event.”
