WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -- As more families struggle with the cost of the basics, like food, churches like Progressive Missionary Baptist in northeast Wichita are filling the gap to help.
The church estimates more than 100 people showed up to its mobile food pantry on Friday, just one day before the government was set to shut down SNAP benefits. What looked like traffic on northeast Wichita's Estelle Street was actually a line of families waiting to receive food donations.
