EUGENE — It’s clear through two exhibition games that Wei Lin is going to offer Oregon a significant presence at guard this season.
Whether it’s as a starter or rotational backup is yet to be determined, with Jackson Shelstad ’s absence for the next few weeks impacting how the Ducks will play their guards.
Lin, who played professionally in China the past three years, combined for 14 points, eight assists and had just one turnover as Oregon’s starting point guard in exhibitions with Utah and Stanford . He shot a combined 5 of 17 from the field, including just 1 of 5 from three, and 3 of 4 at the free throw line while committing four fouls in each contest.
Oregon coach Dana Altman said Lin’s playmaking abilities will likely set him up for good looks as the season progresses.
