The King County auditor is “deeply concerned” that the county is not responding appropriately to a blockbuster audit that found unapproved payments and potential fraud in county contracting.
Auditor Kymber Waltmunson took the unorthodox step of writing to leaders in County Executive Shannon Braddock’s office Friday to request that a third party take over an ongoing internal investigation.
The audit, released in August, found four programs within the Department of Community and Human Services failed to properly oversee grant recipients who, collectively, were receiving millions of dollars in public money.
