Two cats are safe and recovering with their owners after Orange County Fire Authority crews pulled them from a burning apartment in Santa Ana last week.

The fire, which broke out Oct. 22, prompted a rapid response from OCFA, with body camera footage showing firefighters arriving and quickly deploying hose lines to contain the flames and search the apartment for people and pets.

Inside, firefighters found two cats, one orange, the other black, and safely removed them from the smoke-filled apartment as they meowed in confusion.

No human injuries were reported, and crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading to other homes, officials said.

The dramatic video, which was shared on social media, is an example of the urgency and technical training exhibited by well-trained firefighters
