Detroit faith leaders and a gospel music legend are looking to bring the city's congregants from the "Pews to the Polls" ahead of the Tuesday general election through a weekend mini-concert series.
Celebrated gospel and R&B singer-songwriter Shirley Murdock will perform at several churches on Saturday and Sunday, alongside some of the city's leading pastors, to deliver a message of the importance of voting engagement and to encourage Black voters to deliver mail-in ballots directly to voting boxes following the services, according to the Lift Every Voice & Vote Detroit campaign.
