Friday brought some hope and a lot of confusion about what happens next with the federal food assistance program known as SNAP.

The Trump administration said SNAP payments would be frozen starting Saturday, leaving millions of Americans without funds they rely on to feed their families. But two federal judges on Friday ordered the Trump administration to keep SNAP payments flowing. However, neither ruling orders those payments to continue without delay.

South Bay schools said they have to plan for the worst no matter what happens in the courts or in Washington.

"With all the uncertainty, it creates a lot of stress and worry in regards to what’s next," Franklin-McKinley School District Superintendent Juan Cruz said.
