PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The Department of Homeland Security has not released many details or answered questions after an ICE officer shot a man on a Valley freeway this week.
A retired ICE officer, who wants to remain anonymous, said he knows the ICE officer who fired his weapon.
“It’s very foolish to try and flee a traffic stop it’s just really dangerous,” he said. “They’re a good officer, solid officer. No issues at all.”
ICE officers pulled over Jose Garcia-Sorto on the I-17 near Dove Valley Road around 4 a.m. Wednesday . He initially stopped, but then is accused of speeding away toward an ICE officer.
Department of Homeland Security officials said that ICE officer shot Garcia-Sorto’s SUV twice because he feared for his life.
