EAST GRAND RAPIDS, MI—Cedar Springs Red Hawks headed to East Grand Rapids to take on the Pioneers in the opening round of the MHSAA division 3 playoffs .
Students and fans poured into Memorial Stadium, many dressed in festive costumes for the Halloween game on Friday, Oct. 31.
East Grand Rapids took an early 12-0 lead, but Cedar Springs stormed back in the first half to take a 14-12 lead.
It was back and forth in second half, but came down to a 30-yard field goal by Pioneers junior Will Klein (26) to take a 23-21 leas with a 1:22 in the fourth.
The Pioneers led by senior Josh McCune defeated the Red Hawks 23-21 in the district 3 semifinal. Cedar Springs ended the season with an 8-2 record.
The Pioneers (8-2) will take on Coopersville (5-5) on Nov. 7 in the Division 3 district fin
