ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Two federal judges ruled nearly simultaneously on Friday that President Donald Trump’s administration must continue to fund SNAP, the nation’s biggest food aid program, using contingency funds during the government shutdown.
But cities and counties across metro Atlanta aren’t waiting for funding to be restored. They’re taking action now to help people who may end up choosing food over their bills.
Households across the metro face an uncertain path ahead. Atlanta placed a moratorium on residential water shutoffs and housing evictions through January of next year.
Atlanta Public Schools is helping families through its Student and Family Support Hub. Families can receive free food, clothing, hygiene products and school supplies. APS plans monthly food
