MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - While kids were out trick-or-treating Friday night, agents with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections were out too, conducting Halloween compliance checks to make sure offenders under supervision followed the rules.

The Department of Corrections has been doing these Halloween home-visit checks for about 17 years. Corrections Field Supervisor Heather Luhman said the goal has remained the same.

“Our goal is to make sure that the community is safe and that trick-or-treating, which is a fun Halloween tradition for children, is safe for them,” Luhman said. “We want to make sure that clients are held accountable for their rules and for their behavior.”
