ORANGEBURG — An Abbeville man is in custody for carrying a weapon on South Carolina State University property.

South Carolina Law Enforcement Division charged Jamarion Jabari Jones, 19, on Thursday, Oct. 30 with carrying a weapon on school property.

According to the warrant, Jones allegedly possessed a firearm in a book bag while on campus. Surveillance footage from Oct. 4 showed a black male open carrying an assault-style firearm. Jones admitted to SLED agents he was the person in possession of the firearm in the footage, according to the warrant.
