WASHINGTON — Flashing lights, screams and plenty of surprises filled the Third District police station in Northwest D.C. as officers turned part of the garage into a haunted house for Halloween.
Three teens braved the walkthrough, gripping each other tightly as they navigated jump scares and dark corridors. "You guys ready to do this?" WUSA9's Katie Lusso asked. "No," another replied. "Same."
After a few frights and some laughter, they made a quick exit.
While the event delivered plenty of scares, police say it served a larger purpose. As debates over youth curfews and crime continue across the city, Third District Commander Sean Connors said these kinds of activities help create positive experiences for young people.
