COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - More than 1,000 American flags were placed in the medians of downtown Colorado Springs Friday morning as part of a temporary art installation celebrating those in the military who live in the Colorado Springs community.

Volunteer guardians from Peterson Space Force Base and staff from O’Donnell and O’Donnell placed 1,111 flags.

They said they chose this specific number because Veterans Day is November 11 - or 11/11.

The flags are visible as you drive down parts of North Nevada Avenue and North Cascade Avenue.
