GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Volunteers in Green Bay were invited out for a special Halloween-themed waterway cleanup project on Friday.

The goal: to remove garbage and debris where Baird Creek meets the East River.

The effort, organized by the Green Bay Conservation Corps, not only helps protect native wildlife and their habitats from pollution but also improves water quality in the process.

Those we spoke with highlighted the importance of those efforts, as the East River carries some of the most phosphorus and sediment-heavy water into the bay.
