HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Trade wind weather conditions are expected through Saturday with the usual passing showers for windward and mauka areas. Rainfall totals should be light.

Here’s a First Alert for some changes for the latter part of the weekend. First, trades will begin to weaken ahead of an approaching cold front, with winds from the southeast near Hawaii Island and Maui, and from the northeast for Kauai and Oahu.

The front is forecast to reach Kauai late Sunday evening before slowly backing off. Showers will increase, especially for Kauai, where heavier showers may be possible late Sunday into Monday. The rest of the islands will likely see more shower activity.

Trade winds and drier air should rebuild from Tuesday through Thursday.
