Rohit Arya, who was killed by Mumbai police at an acting studio where he was holding 17 children hostage, was embroiled in a months-long tenancy dispute earlier this year that ended following police intervention. Arya's death has now put renewed focus on his life and the incidents of the past year.
On October 28, 2024, a rental agreement for 36 months was signed in the name of Anjali Arya, Rohit's wife, for a flat in the Shivtirth Nagar area of Kothrud. The flat is owned by a person named Deshpande.
However, after the couple moved in, neighbours and other residents in the society started complaining about their inappropriate behaviour. As the complaints increased, the owner issued a notice asking the Arya couple to vacate the flat within a month.
