Toledo City Council’s apparent fear of following through on a smart meter installation project just because it has proven to be tougher to complete than they expected shows a lack of mental stamina and discipline.
When it comes to the additional cost of a citywide water meter project, members of council think they have a tough call to make, but they’re making it tougher than it really is.
Council members this week expressed indecision on the city Department of Public Utilities’ request for approval of $960,000 to finish the installation of smart water meters in 5,500 properties where the owners have not cooperated with the city.
It’s irresponsible for council to dither at this point, so close to completion of this necessary project.
