The sound of an explosion was heard in the downtown area around 9:30 p.m.
Spokane Police Department officers stated that the sound came from authorities disposing of the package as a precaution, to ensure there was no threat to the public.
The package was deemed to not pose any kind of danger.
SPOKANE, Wash. – A significant police and first responder presence was seen in the downtown area on Friday night following reports of a suspicious package.
Authorities responded around 8 p.m. to the 1500 block of West 4th Avenue, near the Global Credit Union.
A Spokane Police Department officer on the scene stated that law enforcement was investigating the package, ensuring safety and exercising caution.
No threat to the public has been identified from
