CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) — Gov. Glenn Youngkin is praising the University of Virginia’s decision to sign an agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice, calling it a fair and responsible move that protects the school’s access to federal funding.
In a letter responding to state Senate leaders Scott Surovell and Louise Lucas, interim president Paul Mahoney said the October 22 agreement temporarily suspends five ongoing civil rights investigations and avoids what he called “an unnecessary and risky legal fight with the federal government.”
