STERLING HEIGHTS – Dominic Vanvliet admits he was a little nervous Friday night.

But now the senior is all smiles and the King of Macomb Dakota.
Vanvliet kicked a pair of fourth-quarter field goals, including a 27-yarder as time expired, in leading Dakota past Utica 6-3 in a Division 1 district semifinals clash at Sterling Heights Stevenson’s Runkel Stadium.
“Man, my heart was ricing on both of them – I won’t lie,” smiled Vanvliet. “I was really nervous. But I practice those every day and do what I always do. I trust my holder, trust my snapper and I did my job. I knew I had to make those. I didn’t want it to go to overtime.”
