COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - A&M Consolidated football used a second-half surge to cruise past Buda Hays 45-13 Friday night at Tigerland Stadium.

This was the final game played at the stadium that was built in 1989. After over three decades, A&M Consolidated’s football stadium will get a facelift, just as the baseball and softball fields are currently under construction.

Why did Consol win? The Tigers relied on their defense early on. A 7-0 halftime lead was propelled by keeping the Hawks consistently behind the chains and on third and fourth-and-longs for the majority of the half. The Tigers held the Hawks scoreless for most of the game.
