Conmee’s outdoor skating rink is receiving a major makeover, including new boards and benches for spectators.
Former Conmee mayor and current area MPP Kevin Holland was at his old stomping grounds on Friday to confirm $147,000 in provincial money towards the upgrade project.
“I’m glad to see this investment helping ensure the community can continue to enjoy and make use of this important community space,” Holland (Thunder Bay-Atikokan) said in a news release.
In addition to new boards and benches, the West Holland Road project is to install pathway mats, bird netting and electrical system upgrades.
Conmee Mayor Sheila Maxwell noted the rink is “a gathering place for residents of all ages, especially during the winter months.”
The funds come from the province’s Northern Ontario Heritag
