Halloween night in Calgary was marred by three vehicle-pedestrian collisions, two of which were classified as hit-and-runs. The incidents began at 9:15 p.m. on Friday when an adult was struck by a vehicle at 16 Tuscany Ridge Place N.W. The driver fled the scene, and the victim sustained minor injuries.
Approximately 40 minutes later, another hit-and-run occurred at the intersection of 52nd Street and Rundlehorn Drive N.E. A man riding a scooter was hit by a vehicle, also suffering minor injuries. Just before midnight, a third collision took place at 1940 9th Avenue S.E., where a woman was struck by a vehicle. She, too, sustained minor injuries. Authorities noted that there was no indication that any of the victims were trick-or-treaters.
The trend of pedestrian incidents continued into Saturday. At 2:45 p.m., police responded to a report of a woman struck by a vehicle at the intersection of 9th Avenue and 1st Street S.E. Emergency Medical Services transported the adult female to the hospital with significant injuries. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding these collisions and urge drivers to remain vigilant, especially during busy times like Halloween.
