Four Iowa City-area teams advanced to the Iowa high school state football quarterfinals to be played Friday, Nov. 7.

Solon earned a trip to the Class 3A state quarterfinals with a 31-6 home victory over Benton , while Iowa City Regina secured a 52-13 home win over Cascade in Class 1A last week.

Iowa City Liberty earned a 34-20 home win over Waukee, while Iowa City West came out with a 38-31 road win over Cedar Falls. The Lightning and Trojans will play in the 5A state quarterfinals.
