A "heroic" member of LNER rail staff is fighting for life after "saving many lives" in yesterday's horrific mass stabbing, British Transport Police have said.
The force said five casualties have been discharged from hospital, but the rail worker is in a life-threatening condition. BTP said that after reviewing the CCTV from the train, it was clear that the staff member's "heroic" actions had "saved many people's lives" during the bloody rampage.
A British Transport Police statement read: "Five casualties have now been discharged from hospital and one remains in a life-threatening condition. This casualty is a member of LNER rail staff who was on the train at the time and tried to stop the attacker.
