JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man was found dead after a house fire Sunday morning.

In a news briefing, JSO said it had responded to a reported fire at a home on West 26th Street, near Spires Avenue, at approximately 7:30 a.m.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department managed to suppress the fire, JSO said, but when they entered the home afterward, a man was found dead.

Although JSO said there did not immediately appear to any foul play, it is working with the state fire marshal and the medical examiner's office to determine the cause of both the fire and the man's death.

JSO did not have the man's identity confirmed as of the news briefing.
