A man has been killed after a shooting by police in Sechelt, B.C., on Saturday morning.

Sunshine Coast RCMP say they received a report of a man in distress who had an "edged weapon" near a home in the 5900-block of Oldmill Lane just after 3:30 a.m. PT Saturday.

Officers say that the man fled back into the home when they arrived, and they attempted to de-escalate the situation over the next several hours, as the man was inside the home with other people, including children.
