CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Corvallis-Albany Farmers' Markets say they're working with the "farmers market fund," a Portland-based organization that operates Double Up Food Bucks, to keep food flowing.
Starting Nov. 1, a temporary emergency program will allow Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) customers to continue to get Double Up Food Bucks.
“Today, the difference is we're going to try and run a dollar off people's cards if it's on there, but even if they have $0 on their card, we're giving them $20 in Double Up Food Bucks,” Rebecca Landis, the market director, said.
As federal funding cuts create uncertainty with SNAP, the Corvallis-Albany Farmers' Markets is ensuring that families who rely on its benefits are still having access to local produce and food.
