Opposition Leader Sussan Ley has told senior Liberal colleagues that her priority was to keep the Coalition together, indicating she may concede to the Nationals on net zero.
It comes after Nationals leader Davidd Littleproud revealed on Sunday that his party would abandon the net zero emissions target .
Sources told Sky News that Ms Ley convened a two hour Liberal Party leadership meeting after Mr Littleproud made the announcement.
Deputy senate leader Anne Ruston, who serves as one of Ms Ley's closest allies, told the meeting that it would be madness to scrap the net zero target.
“We have a gun to our head again,” Ms Ruston told her Liberal colleagues, according to a source.
