Nickel Belt MPP France Gelinas and Hamiton Centre colleague Robin Lennox have brought forward a bill to make Ontario’s top doctor an independent officer of the legislature.

Currently, Ontario is the only province in Canada where the chief medical officer of health is accountable to the Legislative Assembly and an employee of the Minister of Health,” the NDP said in a release.
