Tuesday will be a defining night for the winner of Santa Fe’s mayoral election — and for a few of the losers, too.

Three contenders are down to their last shot at winning the city’s top office.

JoAnne Vigil Coppler, 71, completed one term on the City Council before losing the 2021 mayoral election in a rout. Another defeat would render her unelectable.

Ron Trujillo served three terms on the City Council before losing a bid for mayor seven years ago. Trujillo, 56, still has a following, but a second defeat after a long layoff would end his hope of holding the city’s top office.
