EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Officials with Feed Evansville say with millions across the country dealing with the loss of SNAP benefits, food insecurity is more prevalent than ever.
That’s why they say this was the perfect time for their annual Longest Table event.
The organization’s Executive Director, Lisa Vaughn, says anyone who attends will been seen, heard, and nourished.
“Food plays a vital part in every human being’s life, of course it’s essential for survival, but it’s so much more than that,” Vaughn stated. “Food is definitely love, food is culture, so when a family has food insecurity, it affects the culture, it affects the history of their family rituals and traditions.”
The event saw over 500 attendees.
Volunteers from a variety of organizations, and even Mayor Stephanie Terr
