Thanksgiving has always been a big deal for our family, but this year’s Thanksgiving promises to be among the most memorable since it will be the 50th anniversary of the marriage to the love of my life.

That would be my wife, Kathe. For better or for worse, we have come a long way since those early years. The courting began shortly after we met in Georgia Sprinkle’s Intro to Education class at Mount Union College in 1972.

I knew then that there was a good possibility that we would hit it off, because when I asked her out, she hesitated because it would be the same night as the Dover-New Philadelphia high school football game. I could relate, having gone to Warren Harding, where our games against Massillon were nearly mandatory.
