JACKSONVILLE, Texas — Jacksonville ISD campuses will reopen Wednesday after they were closed for two days due to the ongoing manhunt.

In a statement, the school district said all JISD schools will be closed out of an abundance of caution after communicating with law enforcement. An ongoing manhunt for a man accused of shooting an officer and a K-9 caused classes to be closed Monday and Tuesday.

"The safety and security of our students and staff remain our highest priority. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as law enforcement continues their efforts," the statement read.

The suspect, Bobby Michael Dennis, is considered armed and dangerous. A Blue Alert was issued for Dennis, 64, Sunday night. He was last seen wearing all black clothing and may be driving a gray 2012 GMC Si
