Supreme Court refused to hear the petition seeking a ban on porn videos on Monday. During the hearing, the court referred to the protests in Nepal in September, saying, “See what happened after social media apps were banned in Nepal.”

However, the bench headed by Chief Justice B.R. Gavai said the petition on banning pornography will be heard after four weeks. It is worth noting that Gavai is set to retire from his post on November 23, before the next hearing.

The petition had requested the central government to formulate a national policy to restrict obscene content (pornography) and take necessary measures to ensure that such content does not reach children. It also sought removal of such videos from public platforms.
