Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh on Monday campaigned for JD(U) candidate from Mokama, Anant Singh, who is currently lodged in Beur Jail following his arrest in connection with the murder case of Jan Suraaj supporter Dular Chand Yadav.

The political atmosphere in Mokama has been tense since the killing of Yadav, which led to violent clashes between rival factions. Anant Singh, the JD(U) candidate, also known as “Chhote Sarkaar" in the region, was arrested on Saturday night and sent to 14 days’ judicial custody.

While campaigning in the Mokama constituency, the Union Minister alleged a conspiracy behind the arrest and said Anant Singh would win by a huge margin in the upcoming polls. Mokama is part of the Munger constituency that he represents in the Lok Sabha.
