WILKES-BARRE — A Hanover Township man convicted by a Luzerne County jury of selling fentanyl was sentenced to state prison.

Luzerne County Judge Joseph F. Sklarosky Jr. sentenced Darryl Sharif Bishop, 47, of Lyndwood Avenue, to two years, nine months to nine years in prison on two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. Bishop was convicted of the charges following a one day trial on Sept. 16.

The jury acquitted Bishop on a criminal use of a communication facility charge.

Court records say Bishop, known as “G,” sold fentanyl to another person in the area of Carey Avenue and New Alexander Street, Wilkes-Barre, on June 15, 2023.
