A SWAT standoff caused over two hours of delays on I-20 in Dallas ahead of the Monday morning rush hour.
Police reported to a stalled vehicle around 4:15 a.m. on I-20 eastbound at St. Augustine Rd., according to the Dallas Police Department.
The driver of the vehicle was alone, pulled out a gun and stayed in her vehicle, DPD said. The woman died by apparent suicide.
All eastbound and westbound lanes of I-20 were closed, with traffic being forced off the highway at St. Augustine Rd. Westbound lanes reopened just before 9 a.m.
TxDOT said the highway was completely closed as a precaution and for oncoming traffic to not get struck by gunfire. According to the Dallas County Sheriff's Office, there was a suicidal person on the bridge at St. Augustine Rd.
