A construction worker was seriously injured early Monday morning along Interstate 95 in Foxborough, Massachusetts, when he was struck by vehicle in a hit-and-run crash, according to Massachusetts State Police.

The hit-and-run happened at around 2:15 a.m. on the northbound side of the highway when the worker was retrieving a sign from the beginning of a detail setup, a spokesperson for Massachusetts State Police said in a news release.

The worker was seriously hurt, but is expected to survive.

State police troopers were able to apply a tourniquet to the worker's lower leg and control the bleeding until EMS arrived on scene.
