A school bus driver from Waterloo Region is dead and four students from Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate and Vocational School are in hospital after a single-vehicle collision near London on Sunday morning.
The bus carrying 42 students departed from Kitchener around 9 a.m. for a three-day overnight geography trip at Point Pelee in Leamington, Ont. It was one of two buses carrying students.
The bus was travelling on Highway 401 near London when it went off the road and into the ditch around 9:40 a.m.
“A single vehicle collision occurred involving a school bus. Now, there were 42 passengers on board that school bus where four individuals were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries,” a spokesperson for OPP West Region said in an update on Sunday afternoon on social media.
