LAKEWOOD, Ohio -- The Ohio Department of Natural Resources requires communities to approve a permitting process for lakefront property owners to obtain a submerged lands lease.
That’s why Lakewood City Council recently passed a resolution allowing five property owners on Nicholson Avenue, Erie Cliff Drive and Forest Cliff Drive to seek a lease in order to construct coastal erosion control measures.
“The submerged land leases are all for private property projects,” Lakewood Public Works Director Chris Gordon said.
“The proposed shore structures are revetment work to assist with erosion control.”
Prior to passage, Lakewood’s Division of Engineering and city engineer found no encroachment issues.
