COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A 45-year-old driver died over the weekend in Cobb County after hitting a tree, police said Monday morning.

The Cobb County Police Department said in a release that Erik Attaway of Austell was operating a 2019 Nissan Rogue going northbound on Joe Jerkins Boulevard toward Bagley Lane when, "for reasons still under investigation, the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a right curve in the roadway."

The Nissan entered the oncoming southbound lanes, crossed over the right shoulder and "collided with an enbankment and a large tree."

Attaway was pronounced dead at the scene by Cobb County Medical Examiner's Office personnel, CCPD said.
