Once upon a time, bars and journalists were quite the combo.
You know the cliché, often appearing in movies: The reporter and the source knock back shots in a seedy bar.
Hmm. There are lots of ways to get a story. I have to say that I haven't seen that particular way of doing it for a long time. And despite having been a journalist for, ahem, 40 years, I've never seen an editor reach for the bottom drawer of a desk, pull out a not-so-secret bottle of bourbon, take a slug and yell, "Stop the presses!"
