SHELBY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A man has been arrested after Shelby Police said he fled the scene of a hit-and-run crash and later struck a police vehicle during the subsequent pursuit.
The incident began around 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, when officers responded to reports of a hit-and-run with minor injuries. Two people were taken to the hospital.
Officers soon found the suspect vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but police said the driver, identified as Calvin Bell, refused to pull over and took off. During the chase, Bell’s vehicle reportedly hit a Shelby Police cruiser near Shelby High School.
Bell was arrested shortly after and is now facing multiple charges, including felony hit-and-run with injury, fleeing to elude arrest, assault with a deadly weapon on a government
